Specialist in Psychological Evaluations
Psychological and psycho-educational evaluations are requested for a number of reasons. We can administer an evaluation to meet your needs. Dr. Solomon’s comprehensive evaluations provide diagnostic clarification and information about an individual’s behavioral, emotional, academic, and cognitive functioning. The evaluation will identify:
Early Childhood & Developmental Concerns
Attention-Deficit/Hyperactivity Disorder (ADHD)
Learning Disabilities (i.e., dyslexia, nonverbal, processing, etc.)
Autism Spectrum Disorders (Autism, Asperger's and PDD-NOS)
Mood Disorders (i.e., Depression and Anxiety)
Disruptive Behavior Problems.
Dr. Solomon provides several different educational and psychological testing for individuals ranging in age from preschool through the age of 21 years. Dr. Solomon is involved in the evaluation process from beginning to end. Below is a breakdown of the evaluation process.
The Evaluation Process
Step 1: Parent Interview
Dr. Solomon will meet with the child’s parent(s) to discuss the current concerns and reasons for evaluation. She will gather information about the child’s academic, medical, and developmental history, and learn about any social, emotional, or behavioral concerns and history. This will provide a better understanding of the nature of the concerns and assist the evaluator in deciding which tests should be administered.
Step 2: Design Assessment
Dr. Solomon designs at battery of tests to address concerns and to assist with intervention. Below are the different areas that may be measured and time frame needed:
Visual Motor Integration and Graphomotor Function
Information Processing Tests – These tests measure Memory Language, Attention, Auditory/Visual Processing, Executive Functions, etc
Questionnaires and Behavior Rating Scales
Tests of Adaptive Behavior
Assessment of Autism Spectrum Disorders (if appropriate)
Step 3: Testing sessions are conducted.
One or more testing sessions will occur that last approximately two hours in time. The number of sessions depends on the extent of testing that needs to be completed. For children, sessions are typically shorter in duration. Testing sessions are scheduled to accommodate an individual’s attention, work pace, and need for breaks.
Step 4: Scoring, Interpretation and Written Report
Dr. Solomon will score all the tests, review performance and observations, analyze the results, and integrate all the data into a written report.
Step 5: Feedback Session with Parents/ Caregivers
During the feedback session, results are reviewed. The child's strengths and weaknesses are discussed, and recommendations are tailored to address the child's specific difficulties.
